easy fleece hats to make for kids

I had made a fleece hat for myself over the summer, and I love it.  It brings out the little kid in me because of the crazy fringe on top, but it is also mad, crazy warm in the Ohio winters.  It was so easy I decided to make one each for my nephews for Christmas.  Of course I had to ask my sister to measure their heads, but that's okay.

Here were the two hats I made:

And graciously they tried them on for a picture, even if they were being a little silly:

You'll see Jonas has his flipped up to give a "brim" and I used black fleece to line them both.  Warren didn't have his flipped, so it was taller on his head.  I didn't take step by step pictures for a tutorial, but I did go find one that was already online:

The big difference between my hats and the one I linked to is that I made a lining of black fleece.  Not sure why I did that - maybe because the book I was using showed to do it like that.  It is easier to follow the tutorial that I linked to because there is one seam of sewing instead of two like my hats.  But either are easy!  I wonder if the single non-lined hat isn't as warm, but oh well.  Trust me, these are easy to make, warm for your head, and fun to wear!
